Our Alumni

As part of the functions of the University Advancement Office, we are responsible for the effective running of the Alumni Association and ensuring a cordial relationship between the University and its Alumni. In other words, we are the link between these two parties. Over the years, we have been able to support our alumni and the alumni association in activities that have now led to outstanding success in the operations of the association. Some events held are:

  • AAUA Alumni Homecoming 2012

The AAUA Alumni Homecoming 2012 was held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Multipurpose Hall in April 2012 with the sole aim of bringing together the alumni of Adekunle Ajasin University for the sake of setting up the Alumni Association such that they may begin to make significant impacts on their Alma Mater. At the end of the Homecoming, a 17-Member Interim Committee was set up to represent different years of graduation. The committee was saddled with the responsibility of mobilizing alumni members from their set to join alumni chapters to be set up in various states of the federation. They were also expected to develop an interim Alumni Constitution as well as to work on the modalities of standardizing the AAUA Alumni Association.

  • AAUA Alumni Delegates Conference 2014

The AAUA Alumni Delegates Conference 2014, tagged, “Towards a Functional Alumni Association in Adekunle Ajasin University”, was organised to bring the representatives of the AAUA Alumni Association together towards consolidating the resolutions of the Alumni Homecoming held in April 2012, and propagating a functional Alumni Association in the University. The following basic objectives were set in focus for the Conference:

  • Re-orientation of the AAUA Alumni on leadership, participation and policies
  • Ratification of the AAUA Alumni Constitution
  • Election of AAUA Alumni National Executives.

Ten delegates were welcomed from each of the five existing chapters of the Association viz. Abuja, Akungba, Akure, Lagos and Owo and were joined by the 17-Member Interim Committee appointed at the 2012 Alumni Homecoming. At the end of the conference, the following alumni emerged as the national executives of the association to serve for two (2) years.

  • Ex-Officio 2: Abisola Ogunsakin

The Alumni Association is expected to become a truly functional alumni association committed to continuously mobilizing all graduates of the University into their fold, fostering unity and cooperation among the alumni, supporting the University at all times both in cash and in kind, sustaining the role of graduates of AAUA as first class ambassadors of the University, and to continuously project AAUA in good light.

  • AAUA Alumni Convention 2015

The AAUA Alumni Convention 2015 was held between Thursday, 29th and Saturday, 31st October, 2015 and the 3 day event brought together several alumni of the university from various parts of the country. The first day of the convention featured a campus rally that was joined by the University Advancement Office and the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) himself which was followed by an Alumni–Student parley at the Olusegun Obasanjo Multipurpose Hall.

The second day featured a Public lecture delivered by Professor Tola Badejo and was attended by well meaning Nigerians. After the lecture, the Alumni, executives, principal officers of the university as well as other dignitaries present proceeded to the land designated for the Alumni Secretariat to carry out the ground breaking ceremony after which there was the award ceremony for specially selected awardees and then there was a reunion dinner for the alumni of the University. In general, the 2015 AAUA Alumni Convention was an outstanding success.
